CRIMINAL LAW FAQs

Can the police search me without a warrant?

Yes, in certain circumstances the police can legally search you without a warrant. If the officers are conducting a pat-down frisk when they reasonably suspect that you are armed no warrant is required. A search without a warrant is also proper when contraband is in the officers’ plain view or the officers are making a lawful arrest.
